Treasures every where ...

Hello my dear friends,

it seems that I am finding treasures everywhere right now and a good variety of them as well and the best thing is that I am not always out looking ~ I am just lucky.  A shame I can't keep up with creating something out of them as fast as I find them sometimes ... but then again it is about enjoyment and not productivity when you create! I think that is something I forget from time to time.

a very nice tea sieve and the matching saucer, very good ...

... and then I saw these glass tubes ...

... a bag full of them! Oh, what to do with these?!

And finally this piece. It is a sort of pillowcase that is open on both ends and has been embellished with crochets squares ~ very pretty.

Now I just have to come up with something new and hopefully nice to create with all these new treasures which of course I will share with you once I have done so.

Last but not least ...

... I just noticed that somebody has pinned a creation of Lori's (Katie's Rose Cottage) onto Todolwen's page on Pinterest. I have already let Lori know about this. Since I do not have a Pinterest account I can not let the person know of her mistake!

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Karen B.

  2. Brilliant finds! I wonder if you could use the glass tubes to make a chandelier something like the test-tube chandelier featured on one of my previous blog posts? See here: http://www.okifolki.co.uk/2012/01/let-there-be-light.html You'd have to put something around the outside of the tubes to stop them falling though the plywood rings, but even a ring of yarn or ribbon should do the trick. And if you hung them cork-end down you could then fill the tubes with anything you like! Whatever you decide to do with them I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome. :)

  3. Lovely finds! I am looking forward to seeing what you do with the crocheted piece. I have some that are similar but are actual pillowcases as they are closed on one end!...Nancy :o)

  6. Depending on how large your tea sieve is, it looks more like a berry bowl to me. either way, it is a fabulous find! Love the glass tubes. I have an old glass flower frog that is almost completely round and my vials fit in the holes. It loos really cool.

  7. I have never seen such a lovely tea sieve and platter. Perhaps there are pretty tea sieves here in the US, but I have never seen them.

Artist's in the Somerset magazines often use glass tubes as decoration. They may put a rolled note and perhaps other small treasures inside, and then embellish with ribbons. I just googled "somerset magazine blog test tubes" and found some test tubes filled with buttons, topped by pretty larger buttons and then ribbons tied on the outside. Very pretty.

Have fun with all of your treasures!
