My Thanks To All Of You ..

Hello my dear friends,

today I would like to thank each and every one of you lovely bloggers for all your kind words and your support after my soapbox speech ~ it means so much to me!

I am happy to tell you that the blogger has now taken the post with my tutorial off of her blog and I am very happy about that even though it would have been nice to hear a little 'sorry' from her which didn't happen.

So .. done is done and to tell you the truth I hope this doesn't happen too soon again.

It makes me very happy to know that you all like my tutorials and hopefully I will be able to share a new one sometime again.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Standing On My Soapbox ...

Hello my dear friends,

today I am standing on my soapbox to talk about something that bothers me. Please don't take me as petty when you read this but some peoples actions just tweak me.

I work very hard when I comes to creating something that is my design and also when it comes to writing a tutorial and I have no problem sharing them neither as you can see on Todolwen ~ all my free tutorials. I tend to get very unhappy when other bloggers take my tutorials, or anybpdy's tutorials for the matter of fact, and claim or make it look like that it is their own. It has happened to me on several occasions where my feather tutorial has been copied with slight changes to make it sound a little different so it seems that it wasn't mine and once this was actually done by a follower of my blog.

Why am I telling you this?

This is the reason why ...

I was on the Internet recently and for fun I typed in 'paper feathers' again and a blog came up and there was a tutorial about how to make paper feathers. Hold on a minute ... as I am reading the tutorial ... it is my tutorial word for word. Except for the last three sentences that were added but other wise, yes ... word for word copied!  And ... I can't believe it ... there is my template page with my handwriting still on it, copied also from my blog and  ... no where is there a word about Todolwen, the blog where this tutorial came from, but instead the blogger speaks as if she has written it herself. To make sure I wasn't over reacting I asked my daughter Ashleigh to read it and tell me what she thought and she agreed with me.

I am very unhappy to say the least!

I am surprised that my note about copyright on Todolwen didn't make this person not do this. It is sad because a few bloggers think they don't have to respect the fact that you just don't do something like this and some aren't even aware that it is wrong! What did I do? .. I left a short comment for her to get in touch with me. I want to see, maybe this lady wasn't aware that she shouldn't have just copied my tutorial. I will have to wait and see what happens next and I will for sure keep you posted about this subject.

And last but not least before I step down off my soapbox ...

All of you lovely bloggers out there ... do you know the old saying 'if the shoe fits' .. this is for you if it does. Don't copy other peoples work and claim the fame ~ PLEASE!! I don't mean to offend anybody and I hope I haven't but if you do recreate something that wasn't originally yours then make sure you post a link to the blog where you found it or at the very least credit the creator of it in your post ~ you would like that if it were you.

And finally ...

I don't often get my soapbox out and stand on it but this is one of those rare occasions that I felt the need to.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Karen B.

My First Treasures Of The New Year

Hello my dear friends,

needing a bit of retail therapy after a very stressful day last week, I headed out to check out all of my little charity stores and thrift shops that I haven't been to in some time and I am happy to say that it was a successful trip and I actually felt a bit better upon arriving at home again. OK, I was really happy actually!

Not only did I find a few new tarnished pieces to create with but I also found a 'huge' treasure again which I will show you a bit further down.

I am sure this piece is going to end up turning into a lovely pincushion.

And this was my neatest find ...

a large spool of vintage lace ...

... in a pale shade of coffee cream color I would say and ...

... it is quite wide lace too - about 8 inches wide.

Now I just have to get myself to start creating with all my newest treasures.

And last but not least ...

... an update on our basement.

It has been a a sort of rocky road with bumps at times which was much longer than we thought it would be but now the way is slowly smoothing out and it is looking very nice. My stress levels at times were for sure too high due to worry, money and frustration and I am sure a few more reasons. One thing I have to keep in mind that everybody makes mistakes - even I do.

I must say though one of the main things I really do like about our contractor himself is he was more than willing to make things right if his workers did something the way is shouldn't be. There was no debating about it, he always said 'Let me make it right' and that's what he did and in the end even more!!

Do I think I could have done with a bit less stress ~ definitely!! But all in all things are good and that's what counts. By the look of it we are almost there too. Another day or so and our contractor is done and I can start to work on the stairs. The floor are going to have to wait a little longer because my husband is very busy with work but once we are done finally done I will share photos of the finished basement nice and new.

Will I do another renovation in the near future ~ absolutely not .. I think. I need to have a little time to recover first and then see what needs doing next in our house but for now little projects are more to my liking.

It would be nice if you were to take a moment and visit me again soon here at Todolwen and see what I have been up to!

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

A New Heart~Felt ..

Hello my dear friends,

I haven't been very creative these past days even though a little time would have been there, but it seems I am on a low right now and I am hoping it won't last too long.

After it was the fist anniversary of my Mama's passing at the beginning of the new year, my heart was very sad and that's how I came to make my newest 'Heart~Felt'. I had bought a lovely sweater a week or two ago for a different project but I knew that it would become a part of my latest creation.

I had bought a lovely sweater a week or two ago for a different project but I knew that it would become a part of my latest creation. I love the warm pink color of the wool.

This is my newest creation ..

my Heart~Felt 'Never Alone'.

I don't think that this creation really needs a lot of words ~ the name says it all I find.

I hope  you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Enough Waited ..

Hello my dear friends,

I just got too impatient to wait any longer and after several attempts, yes ... this too didn't work the first time, I have opted to use 'html' to upload my photos for now. It takes much longer to do so but at least I can blog properly again!!

I had taken some photos of my backyard to share with you again last week after it had snowed in the night and of course the squirrels were there again too and I was so smitten. For a short while there were about 6 or 7 in my maple tree at once.

This winter my Peter Pan stayed outside to experience the wonder of snow.

These little critters are so beautiful!

This black squirrel sat just outside my kitchen window and ate some snow to quench it's thirst away and sat just long enough so I could capture it to share with you. Nature is something so precious we should all treasure!

It would be nice if you come back soon and see what I've been up to.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Wait A Little Longer..

Hello my dear friends,

thank you for all the advice trying to help me with the 'little problem' with blogger not being able to upload photos for my blog. I have decided to wait a little longer to see if blogger can fix what ever is wrong and not start to use something different and new to do so ( sometimes I'd rather not try something new out that I am not sure about. What would I call myself ...chicken?!')

Instead I will work hopefully on a new creation or two in the meantime and ... yes, get more stressed out over our basement renovation. So ... it is now week 11 and we are still not done. (AHHHHHH!!)
The ceilings need refinishing and that is what is going to happen this morning and you have no idea how I am feeling right now ... totally fed~up with it all!! As of right now I have no date when my contractor will be done finally. Don't get me wrong ... they are very nice people but I wish less mistakes were made along the way and I am sure I have told you all this before.

I will keep up to date on every of course, so don't forget to stop by from time to time and visit me again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

A Problem With Blogger?!

Hello my dear friends,

I was wondering if anybody else is having or has had a problem with uploading pictures to their blog?!

Since two days now I have been trying to get a post ready to share and when it comes to uploading my pictures, I click on the picture icon and after the new window opens a part of it is missing ~ it is the part where you click on to browse your pictures.

I sure hope that this isn't something I have done wrong, but then my daughter Ashleigh has the same problem too. Hopefully this 'little problem' will be sorted very soon.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,
