Beautiful Mercury Glass

Hello my dear friends,

have you noticed all the beautiful Christmas decorations and ornaments that are slowly but surely appearing in the stores these days ...?

My daughters and I went out on Saturday just for fun mainly because I wanted to spend a little time out of the house (please don't misunderstand me I love being in my house ..) but I was in need of seeing something else than dirt and dust. Also my daughter Ashleigh was searching for decorations for the tables at her wedding reception and dinner and we all agreed that 'Home Sense' was the place to go. Just in case you don't know 'Home Sense' it is a home store that sells the most wonderful things for your home, all sorts and pieces to do with cooking, gift ware and much more. It is a great store and I don't often buy 'new' things since I am more of an antique finding person ~ if that makes sense ~ but I really like this store!

Anyways ...

...ornaments .... there were so many boxes of ornaments and a entire isle just full of single hanging ornaments in a vast array of sizes and colors and styles too and all are equally beautiful ~ I felt like a child in a candy shop!

And like a child in a candy store ... you can not leave without buying something and so I did!

I bought three ornaments ~ take a look ...

... see ...

... I told you ...

... so beautiful!

I can tell you ~ it was sure hard to pick which ornaments I really liked the most!

My daughter Ashleigh fell in love with the ornaments as well and bought a lot of them in shades of lilac, silver and white which she is going to use for her wedding. The feel of her wedding is vintage, silver and lilac but it is not a Christmas or winter wedding. I can already see it in my mind and it is going to look amazing once it has happened which will be in about 11 months. So you and I too will have to wait a little while still to see how beautiful it will be.

But ... that doesn't mean there will be nothing else here to see in the mean while! Please drop by for time to time as see what I have been up to.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Basement Update

Hello my dear friends,

oh my ... I am exhausted, mainly mentally and I am sure I know why ... going to bed at midnight and up again just after 6 am and then lots to do during the day and of course a good dose of stress and worry will do it I think. On the good side our basement is coming along great. I am hoping that we might be finished in a few weeks or so. Here are some photos to keep you up to date ...

It is starting to look great and and the end is in sight (I hope) and to tell you the truth ...
... I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL IT IS FINISHED!!

My house is in need of a intense clean up of all the dust and there is something about having lots of people you don't know in your house. There seems never to be a moment you can relax until they have left again and for some reason I feel very stressed with this renovation but maybe that is normal in a situation like this. Unfortunately we did have a few things, nothing terrible so far, we could have done without but it is better to get most of them sorted while we are renovating. All in all things are good and I hope they stay that way.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends,

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Give A Little Love This Christmas...

Hello my dear friends,

this is just a tiny little post in which I just wanted to share something I found on YouTube just yesterday. It is an advert for  the "John Lewis" company. They  have just released their 2012 Christmas advert and it is just so lovely and heartwarming and I thought you might like it too, so ....
... take a moment, sit down and watch!
 (you might need a Kleenex)

Sending many heartwarming hugs and thoughts to all of you ...

... much love

He Now Has A Name ..

Hello my dear friends,

today's post is just a short one since I have so much to do. When I told you about my little felted barn owl I didn't think of showing you a picture of him so you can get the idea of his size and I am happy to say that I now have a name for him too.

Here he is in my daughters Ashleigh's hands.

I had asked you lovely bloggers for some help to find a name for him and you gave me some very nice choices and I would like to thank you all for that.

One blogger ~ Lynn Stevens from 'Trash To Treasure Art' ~ wrote me a short e-mail and she suggested a name for my little owl which I took to right away. She wrote ...

'That has to be the sweetest little owl I've ever seen.
He just tugs at my heartstrings. That might be the perfect name for him "Tugs".
hugs Lynn'

And that is what his name is now ... Tugs! I chose this name because that is exactly what happened to me when I first saw him ... he tugged my heartstrings!
Thank you so much Lynn for your comment on that post.

So ...did any of you have their heartstrings tugged lately?

When you have a spare moment maybe you might pop by some time soon again and visit me again ~
it would be so nice to hear from you!

I  hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

So Much Happening ...

Hello my dear friends,

so much has been happening in the past few days now ~ it's crazy here! My basement in coming along fast which is such a good thing but a lot of stress as well with my husband not being here away with work again ... I am trying to ensure everything gets done right. So far it is looking great. We are only having the main work done by our contractor and things like painting and laying the new floor we are going to do ourselves hopefully before Christmas.

I haven't gotten to much time to sit and be creative at all really which makes me a little sad because I find creating so relaxing and comforting after a stressful day. I haven't even had a chance to finish my second and third scarf ready for mailing and on their way to Vicki ~ which I am really not happy about but I am hoping that I will be able to do so very soon.

I only have a few photos of our basement to share with you today but I will have more very soon again as work is progressing very well so far.

And ...

... after moving, I think 14 or 15 times over the past 22 years ... I finally threw some of my army moving boxes away yesterday! The amount of times I have packed and unpacked these makes it a tiny bit sad too since they were such a large part of my life.

These huge wooden MFO boxes have been with me all over the world and now they are 'retiring'. (MFO stands for multinational forces and observers)

What else is happening? ...

... my daughter Ashleigh and future son-in law are thinking of pulling their wedding forward which would mean that they would be getting married in about 11 months already and not in two years. There is a lot going on about sorting everything out with a much faster approaching wedding now ~ but it is exciting too!

As you can see there is so much happening here right now and I will keep you up to date with everything when I can. I do have a few new creations to share with you that I had been working on earlier this year  and since Christmas is on it's way I can finally tell you all about them very soon ... so don't go to far away!

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

My Winter Nest

Hello my dear friends,

today I would like to share a new hand felted with you. I made this nest in the early summer believe it or not and had to wait until now to share it with you. It is hand felted made from a lambswool sweater that was made in Ireland ~ they are the best ~ and I used many different textured and colored wools to give it the look it has. I made little paper holly leaves that I embellished by staining the edges, adding a crackle glaze and finally ultra fine glitter for a little touch of frost. My final touch was little pine cones and pipberries also touched ... I mean kissed by the frost.

I love everything about this nest!

If you look at my free tutorials on the right sidebar you will find the 'felted nest tutorial' and the 'kissed by the frost' tutorial just waiting for you to start and create something beautiful! Maybe it could be a gift for your friend or a relative for Christmas or a gift to yourself made by yourself!

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,
