I am sure you have done this too at least once ... placed something in a 'safe' place or put something away only to find it again after some time and almost being as happy the day you got it first. Well ... this is one of those times.
I had bought this lovely baby gown in the UK whilst I was living there some years ago. It is a handmade Victorian little piece and so pretty. It ended up in my closet for I think a few years now, some where hiding away in the darkest corner and a week ago I 'found' it again!
It is such a lovely little piece made from thicker cotton cloth with embroidery and crochet edges ~ a true little treasure and I just had to share it with you.
So much work and love have gone into this little gown. I wonder who made it?... Maybe a Mother-to-be or a Grandmother or Aunt excited for the new arrival of the family!? It would be so neat to know.
Now all I need is to find a place to hang it up so I can look at it every day.
So ... next time you tidy your closet or your basement, look a little longer because you might just 'refind' one of your hiding treasures too.
I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.
Have a peaceful and creative day,
Karen B.
Esas prendas son verdaderos tesoros, guárdala bien, besos
ReplyDeleteI collect handmade children's clothes also. I have my mother's christening gown, that my grandmother made plus some of my mother's dresses when she was little. All handmade. I really treasure them. I made my children's christening gown, hate to say it is 33 yrs old now. Yikes!!lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little gown. A wonderful find.. back then and now! Re: yesterday's work..don't look at that 50', but the 6 you've gotten done.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, my husband and I planted a really large garden. One day I sent my then 7 yr old to start picking peas. Awhile later I looked out the window and he was just standing there with the bucket looking at those loooong rows of peas, hadn't even started picking yet. Since then whenever there's something major to be done we just say "don't look at the whole pea patch!"
