More Seam Binding Roses ..

Hello my dear friends,

today I am giving you a little sneak peek at what I am working on these past few days because I wasn't able to finish it just yet. I am totally taken by my seam binding roses that I didn't stop after I completed my two scissor pouches ...

... but this time I am embroidering them onto vintage velvet.

I am not going to say anymore than this or show you anymore than these few photos but only for today because ...

... tomorrow I will be ready to share my finished creation.

Maybe if you have a moment spare tomorrow you could visit me here at Todolwen again  ~ it  would be so nice!

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Leftovers And Seam Binding ..

Hello my dear friends,

since a shirt doesn't just have one shirt cuff but two I could not let the second cuff not become a needle book too and since a shirt has more fabric to it than just two sleeves with a cuff each ... do you get the idea? I haven't quite finished the second needle book just yet but I have finished two other new creations.

I have been busy creating from the blue shirt this past weekend apart from trying to declutter my fabric chest and tidy my studio. I have also learnt something new ~ my post from yesterday ~ which was my variation of silk ribbon embroidery ... namely ... seam binding embroidery.

Combining the leftovers and seaming embroidery together I created these ...

... two new scissor pouches.
(Yet again many photos but very few words)

I hope you like my latest creations ~ they were so much fun to make.

And if you ask me .. did I stop there? ... No, no I didn't ~ but that is all I am going to say for today.

OK ..., maybe a little hint about my next creation ...

... velvet, rose pink and beautiful.

Has this intrigued you at all?
Well, then you know what to do if you have a spare moment ~ come and visit me here at Todolwen soon again.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Always On The Lookout ..

Hello my dear friends,

I am always on the lookout to try and learn something new when it comes to being creative and that is what I did over the weekend apart from many other things ~ I was very busy. Sometimes all it takes is me seeing a photograph of something and being so inspired that I just have to try it out, and I mean right away!

I was browsing the internet and came across a photo of a little bag that was embellished with silk ribbon roses and that was it ~ I was taken!

Of course as impassioned as I am there was no way I could wait until Monday morning to go out and try and find silk ribbon so I headed into my studio on search for anything I could use and what did I see ... my seam binding! No wonder I love Hug Snug ~ It is one of those things that is versatile and in my case there when I need it. An embroidery frame, scissors, needles and thread and a few other bits and I was ready to start.

After looking at a diagram that showed how you make the rose I attempted my first one.

And this is it ...

... my first ever embroidered seam binding rose!

I actually like it too and after my first attempt of course the second one wasn't far away ...

... and this is it.
This time I used a small piece of an old doilie to embroidered smaller seam binding roses on too.

My roses were just shouting out to be embellished with a few vintage pearls and then they were completed and ready to bloom and the best part of them is ... they might not be perfect and as beautiful as many on the internet but I like them!

And I already know exactly what I am going to us these two little creations for ... to make two more  creations with them. What ... no, not telling you that little bit just yet.

Why not pop back soon ... let's say ... tomorrow and then you will be able to see my newest creations then.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Just What I Was Looking For ..

Hello my dear friends,

I just love it when you head out in the search of treasures and you find just what you were looking for ~  I did so a few days ago. I was out and about doing chores with my older daughter and we ended up in one of the antique stores we always visit and right at the end of our visit I found a little treasure.

It wasn't something very special but it was something I love to use in my creations a lot because it just give things the right little touch. I am not even sure of the name of it is. It is crocheting but a specific type of crocheting and I love it so much because you can cut it up into sections and it doesn't tend to come apart at all.

And this is just what I was looking for ...

... 4 feet of vintage crochet lace or 31 individual little crochet treasures.

And I had even more luck finding another item I was looking for and this time it was at the dollar store. I do really like to buy at Michaels but some times their prices are .. shocking! Yes, that is a good word to use. I almost never buy anything at normal price there these days so when I found these tiny nests at the dollar store for far less than at Michaels I was more than happy.

Some times the smallest finding can put a smile on my face and I love it every time and today I wish for you to find that little treasure that will put a smile on your face.

And last but not least ...

... I just had to share this photo with you. Taking photos for Todolwen can some times be a little bit of a challenge when our cats are awake as you can see. Alexia always likes to be very close to me no matter what.

When ever you have a moment why not visit me here again at Todolwen and see what I have been up to.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

My Little Wild Critters ...

Hello my dear friends,

not a day goes by without me being visited by some of  'my' wild little critters and I never get bored of them and I hope you don't either.

The little woodpecker stopped by again.

This little guy was all over the yard trying to find something to eat ...

... and he did and he enjoyed the piece of apple.

I am sure our neighborhood has the best fed squirrels.

And yesterday I had a new little feathered friend visit ...

... it was a little wild pigeon that sat on our deck for a little rest.

We also had a nightly visit by one a raccoons already ~ a bit early if you ask me and he was gone so fast that I didn't get a chance to capture of picture of him .. maybe next time.

Why not pop by some time soon again and visit me here at Todolwen.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

My Newest 'Heart~Felt' ..

Hello my dear friends,

I told you a little while ago that I was working on a few new 'Heart~Felts' and I have just finished another one of them today and that is what I would like to share with you in this post.

I didn't tea stain the felt with this one but left it white. I just thought it would be the right look for this creation and I just had to use my little flowers, that I dyed a lovely pale greenish color and one of my little flutter~bys to embellish this making with.

And this is my new Heart~Felt ...

... 'Hope'.

Again many pictures for you to see my latest creation and few words ~ I would rather let the pictures talk instead of me.

This little flutter~by is still awaiting it's new place to be but that will be in a future post that I will share with you.

I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Creative Leftovers .. A Needle Book

Hello my dear friends,

as crafters we all seem to hold on to bits and pieces like little leftover scraps of fabric, lace, cut up or old torn doilies, old buttons, tarnished safety pins. You name it, we save it. We do it because as I once said before ... 'you never know' and this is one of those 'you never know' times.

Do you remember my 'Once Upon A Time' creation?

I used a blouse I bought in a thrift store for the part of Cinderella's dress.
It was such a lovely fabric and color and I had the rest of the blouse leftover so I just had to come up with an idea to use it for and even if it were only a small piece of it and I did.

The piece I decided to use was the sleeve cuff ~ it was a very neat one with a frill on it.

And this is what I turned it into ...

... a needle book.

There are many photos to share with you but only few words ~ I hope you don't mind but sometimes I just like it that way.

I love thinking of creations that are made from leftovers.
It is such a neat thing to see all this 'stuff' laying in front of you, almost thrown together and then after a while this creation appears right in front of you.
Almost like a little bit of ... magic!

I hope this has brought a little joy to you because it has to me.

It would be so nice if you would stop by here at Todolwen from time to time and pay me a visit.

I hope you are well and life is treating you kind my dear friends.

Have a peaceful and creative day,

Karen B.
